agnostic

The theological "gnosis" would have us believe that the world is a conjuror's house; the anti-theological "gnosis" talks as if it were a "dirt-pie" made by the two blind children, Law and Force. Agnosticism simply says that we know nothing of what may be beyond phenomena. Thomas Henry Huxley

agnosticism definition:

1. The doctrine that certainty about first principles or absolute truth is unattainable and that only perceptual phenomena are objects of exact knowledge.

2. The belief that there can be no proof either that God exists or that God does not exist.

Examples of Belief

  • Christian, Muslim, etc.: God created the Universe, He rules over us, I know what He thinks, and I know what He thinks you should do.

  • Deist: God created the Universe, but he only gave us the laws of nature to rule over us and does not concern himself with us.

  • Atheist: The Universe was created naturally and I don't see or know of any gods or supernatural causes.

  • Agnostic: The Universe is a mystery and the origin of it is beyond human understanding. If there was a creator, as a being or thing, it does not concern itself with us and is also beyond our understanding.
